If you own a cell phone, you’ve probably had a problem with your phone. Maybe it fell in the toilet (don’t ask me how I know), or maybe it’s not charging when it needs to. Whatever it is, we can help you!
Do not panic!
Back up your stuff.
Make sure your information is also backed up in the cloud. Sign in to Google Drive or iCloud and make sure everything is there before calling for repair or replacement.
If you have AppleCare+, don’t hesitate to take advantage of it! It’s worth every penny if something goes wrong with your phone. Call tech support right away so they can walk you through the steps over the phone and get everything up and running quickly with no extra cost for parts or labor – again, you’ll save time and money by not having to take time off from work/ school/family obligations to get someone to come and fix things for us!

What model phone do you have?
The first thing you need to do is find out what model of phone you have. This can be a little trickier than it sounds, but if you have your phone with you, a quick glance at the back of the device will do the trick. If that is not possible, look for other identifiers such as the IMEI number or serial number. The former can be found in the settings (or under About phone), while the latter is probably on the packaging or even in the battery compartment if it’s not already visible on an external sticker.
The next step is to identify the carrier (and therefore service provider) to which your phone belongs so that we are able to provide accurate advice and recommendations regarding repairs and replacements!
The screen is the most common repair.
- the screen is cracked or broken. If you’ve dropped your phone and the glass is cracked, it’s time to bring it in. You may be able to get away with just having the screen replaced, but if it’s so broken that you can’t see anything on the screen at all, we’re going to have to replace the whole thing.
- The battery is worn out or no longer charges properly. If your phone has been acting strange lately — it only stays on for a short time before turning off or it doesn’t hold the charge for very long — the battery may be dead. In that case we can replace the battery for you!
- The charger has stopped working properly or has been damaged by exposure to water (so it needs to be replaced). We often see this when people take their phones camping or fishing; if they are not careful about keeping it away from water after some drops have been splashed on it then their charger may not work as it now has corrosion in it! This can also happen if someone accidentally puts their phone under running water without realizing it until much later down the road when they try new ways of trying things (like charging) again unsuccessfully because something in their device has changed as a result of being exposed to pressure for too long given enough time…which leads me around again: don’t worry about feeling guilty,
Always use the power button to turn off your phone.
If you’re using a smartphone, chances are the power button is on the side of the device and looks like a circle. It may also be labeled “on/off” or “sleep/awake.” When you press this button, some phones turn off and others go to sleep. To turn off your phone completely, press and hold this button for a few seconds until you see an option to turn off or shut down. This can take up to 10 seconds in some cases, so be patient!
If the phone has no physical buttons at all (example: if it’s an iPhone X), press and hold any part of the screen for about 3-5 seconds until options appear to shut down or turn off the device; choose the option that works best for you!
Don’t let your battery run out.
It is a common misconception that you should leave your smartphone plugged in overnight. However, that is not the case. If you’re wondering why this is, it’s because lithium-ion batteries are designed to hold a charge for an extended period of time – but only when charged at certain intervals.
For example, if you have an iPhone XS Max, leaving the phone on the charger all night will drain the battery by about 5%. That may not seem like much, but when we consider that people tend to charge their iPhones overnight—and then plug them back in every morning—this habit can quickly add up!
It’s also important to note that if your device is hot while charging (or even after being unplugged), it can damage its internal components over time. So make sure you don’t let the device get too hot before you put it down!
There are options besides buying a new one.
If you’re considering buying a new iPhone, there are actually several parts that can be repaired. The most common repairs are:
- A new battery
- A new screen (glass)
- A SIM card replacement, which can solve a number of problems with your phone
- A charging port replacement, which allows your device to charge properly and prevents damaged cords from interfering with other parts of the phone
- Home button repair, which is needed if the button sticks or becomes unresponsive after frequent use (this is usually caused by dirt under the button)
- Replacing the front camera lens, because blurry photos are never fun!
Sometimes it’s easy, sometimes it’s hard, but often it can be fixed.
The good news is that phone repair is usually not difficult. Some things are as simple as taking out a battery or opening a case (or shell). It is also possible that your device is still usable, even if no damage has been done and you don’t have to repair anything at all. If so, great!
